DAEDEOK INNOPOLIS, a place where bright minds come to develop next-generation technology

  • DAEDEOK INNOPOLIS, a place where bright minds come to develop next-generation technology, is comfortably surrounded by lush greenery setting the scene for a good working environment. A place where business operations and activities are conducted efficiently and conveniently.
Moreover, Daedeok is a world-class innovation cluster where creativity flourishes. Designed in 1973, Daedeok Science Town is the oldest and largest government-funded science complex in Korea. Today, the park consists of 410 R&D institutes (including 32 government sponsored institutes), 5 universities, and over 900 companies in advanced fields of IT, BT, NT, ST and RT. The next generation of innovation cluster depends on Daedeok.

With over 18,000 researchers and more than 10% of all Korean patents, Daedeok has a proven track record in the commercialization of DRAM, SRAM, LCD modules, CDMA and wireless broadband technologies. Well known for the development of the blockbuster drug Factive and for developing an AIDS diagnostic test, WiBro (Wireless Broadband), DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), and launching 10 cutting-edges satellites Daedeok continues to thrive. Currently, we are directing our efforts and resources to creating venture ecosystems and commercializing R&D outcomes.

Moreover, we facilitate knowledge sharing from within our walls to the far corners of the world. Daedeok Innopolis has been a springboard for success for countless companies and research groups. We invite you to take a closer look at what drives our success.

Daedeok Innopolis has one of the longest histories of any research cluster in Asia. Started in 1970, Daedeok Innopolis has expanded to become a major center for basic and applied research in technology. By 1978 the science park was populated with national research institutes and corporate research centers. The next step was the development of a Industrial complex infrastructure. In 1993, after most of the research park was complete, the Daedeok Research Park Administration Law was passed, giving the cluster unprecedented authority as an international research cluster. Since that moment, progress at Daedeok Innopolis has accelerated, bringing in high tech firms from the early 2000s and setting the stage for the foundation of Daedeok Innopolis. In 2005 Daedeok Innopolis was formally established by a special law and provided with a coordinating headquarters to build a world-class innovation cluster covering IT, BT, NT, nuclear power and green technologies.
